This
letter from the pastor of one of the local Missouri Synod Lutheran churches was in the local paper today;
A cult utilizes extra-Biblical sources to foster its false teaching. In the case of Mormonism, these are "The Book of Mormon," The Pearl of Great Price," and "Doctrine and Covenants."
In contrast, Jesus states," If you continue in my word you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31). The Apostle Paul (2 Corinthians 11:4) warns of following after "another Jesus" who is not the same Jesus revealed in Holy Scripture.
Mormons stealthily use Christian terms, but in each case, the Biblical definition is rejected and supplanted with false, non-Christian definitions.
Brigham Young, a Mormon, stated, "Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-Day-Saints with it, and see if it will stand the test" (Journal of Discourses, vol. 16, p. 46, 1873). When you do this, you will clearly see that Mormonism contradicts Holy Scripture, is not Christian and is an anti-Christian, deadly cult.
