C&MA The Christian and Missionary Alliance http://www.cmalliance.org/

CHOG Church of God (Anderson, IN) www.chog.org
For CHOG, please make sure you include Anderson, IN as there are two separate entities with the same name and that is how this one is always labeled in phone books, etc.

edited for typo

3. I thought of one..
altho I don't necessarily think of them as 'progressive': the LDS.
Their official website is at http://www.lds.org/

I'd probably list them as Mormons, if you do add them, since that is what they are more recognized as.

4. Question for the Rev Cheese..
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 05:55 AM by Princess Turandot
would you have any interest in adding a section at the end of other sites of interest, while they do not represent the 'official site' of a Christian denomination? I have a special interest in St. Francis of Assisi, as the owner of 5 cats, along with his general philosophy.

At the website http://www.americancatholic.org/Features/Francis/default.asp

There is an article on St. Francis's site which is called 'Will I see my little doggy in heaven?' It makes me smile each time I read it.( Although in truth, I have one cat whom at best would spend a long time in Purgatory before he would get to heaven!)

5. I think we all benefit from as much information as possible.
Sure, why not include a secondary category, websites of interest...

At this point, I'm just compiling denominations, so we have a resource to turn to when we're looking for information.

They're not all progressive - definately not. And it certainly isn't all-encompassing, either. My list started with what I knew, then I went to the NCC for inspiration. Then I thought, let's get the DU investigators to work on this together! :)

6. For Quakers...
FUM is generally considered a more conservative organization, and is strong in the midwest. WWW.FGC.org is the Friends General Conference which tends to be more liberal, politically and theologically, and is strongest here in the East. Many local meetings have affiliations with both, confusing the issue even more. There are also Evangelical Friends, very strong in Africa, but a few here in the US. And a few local meetings prefer not associate with any of these groups.

Quakers are not really very "organized," and have central authority, but the Yearly Meetings are where most of the real action takes place. My Yearly Meeting, for instance, is www.nyym.org, and is New York, New Jersey, and a little of Connecticut.

www.Quaker.org is probably the most comprehensive Quaker site around, and links to pretty much everything Quaker.
