If you've read A Course in Miracles, you know what I mean. That there is only love and fear, and that fear is really a veil keeping us from the Love that is everything.
I saw a good example of this last night. We do the Dances of Universal Peace in Springfield MO, and drive up there early to eat at a great Indian restaurant and to visit the local metaphysical book store. While there, we got talking about the Dances with a young girl who said a friend (a Dance regular) asked her to come, and that we'd see her that night. Well, she didn't come. Why? Because, according to her friend, the girl's boyfriend objected to going to a church (we dance at a Unity church), that we'd "talk Jesus" to him.
At the dance meeting was a person who apparently was a fundamentalist. When we did a Dance using the word "Allah", she left, saying that was a false god. We told her that it is the name for God in Arabic, and even cited the fact that Christian Bibles printed in Arabic use the word, but her answer was, "My Bible is in English", a statement that drew incredulity from some of the other dancers. Her fear was so obvious-but she did have courage enough to stay and join in some of the other dances (including one honoring Krishna!). The only other Dance she wouldn't do was the first line of the Lord's Prayer in Aramaic-again, the fear was obvious-I don't think the poor girl had thought of the fact that Jesus didn't speak English.
So I met two kinds of fear; one kept people from even coming, the other kept a person from fully participating. I send love and light to all three. And may all of us have our ideals shattered on the Rock of Truth as we travel toward the One.
