Thanks Ma'at!
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 07:33 PM by Ranec
I'm glad to see that this group got up and running.

We had some discussion about what this group would be about, and I'd like to see if people had any more thoughts on the subject.

I thought it would be nice to have a group to talk about spirituality from the viewpoint of UU's. Not just about our own paths, but trying to understand how we can co-exist with other people who are trying to find their own way in this world.

It's a new year. We have a blank slate. How should we fill it?

1. Absolutely! I agree.
If we approach things from a UU point-of-view, it's good for all, since UU allows you to define your own path totally. It's pretty much the same in C.R.S. (Church of Religious Science), but most of at least do believe in the One-Energy, the Force, God, or whatever. UU is even more open.

Maybe we should start a fun thread about what we each believe in, and if it is called 'the One Spirit' or whatever. That would be fun.

Thanks all! This will be fun.

2. re: your question

I've been thinking about it and haven't been sure how to answer.

As a nation, with regard to spirituality, I'd like to see us trend toward tolerance and seeing the "God-self" in all beings, which I hope would spark a peace movement.

As a DU group, I hope we fill it with lots of lively but tolerant discussion of all sorts of questions about spirituality.

Is it too early to start calling everyone SOUPers? :)

Warm wishes for a peaceful new year to all. :hi:

3. Funny you should say that, Wildflower.
That's exactly what my church believes, that each of us is God is Love (a manifestation of God). I'm with Church of Religious Science. We are all divine. That's why they say, 'We do not deny the divinity of Jesus, because we are all divine.' I believe that.

I like SOUPers.

Where it gets interesting in my congregation is discussing what happens after you die. I believe your 'energy' gets choices. I, for one, tend to believe that you can move on to another life, but somehow you get to keep a connection (an protective energy connection, if you will) with respect to your loved ones. I sure feel my paternal grandmother's presence on and off, guiding me.

Thanks for the support.
