Prayer for tomorrow (and all times)
SOUPers,

We have all faced so much, individually, as a nation, and as an international community. Right now the war presses heavy on us, and we think back to the recent tsunami, mudslide, train wreck, and other events that have brought so much suffering and sorrow. As the Iraqi election approaches tomorrow, I wanted to share this prayer:

That They May Face the Winds

Great Spirit, Great Spirit, my Grandfather,
all over the Earth the faces of living things are all alike.
With tenderness have these come up out of the ground.
Look upon these faces of children without number
and with children in their arms
that they may face the winds
and walk the good road to the day of quiet.

- Black Elk (1863-1950)

Yours in hope,

wildflower

3. Thanks, elshiva and Ma'at.
It sounds like things went fairly well, if we are to believe what we're hearing. I hope all our collective good thoughts made a difference. From what I understand, there was minimal violence. Though any is too much. To my mind, every person who suffers, every person who dies, matters.

Let there be peace on earth.

4. Yes, every life matters.
Pray for the Iraqis who died during their election tonight. We pray that somehow this election will further the peace. Amen.
