Names that you hate for God
Really don't like "The Man Upstairs" since S/HE is not a man and not upstairs...

1. Now, this is a good thread.
I hate the "Man Upstairs" too.

As a total aside, I can't stand them referring to "Father" all the time in my kid's school prayer, which is otherwise very positive. I would prefer "Mother/Father God" or "Spirit."

I prefer "Spirit," but some don't like that - since Spirit might refer to a ghost or something.

How about "Lord." I'm not crazy about that one.

I'm open, though, and will support whatever my friends chose for themselves.

2. Lord is not that good, but it is not the worst.
I hate "invisible cloud being" because that some make fun of believers.

3. Oh, wow.
I'd never heard of that one before.

That is OFFENSIVE.

That's something one of the "militant atheists" would say.

That's how someone referred to the guys that usually post on the Religion and Theology Forum (I really have taken that off "my forums").

Take care! And have fun for God!

4. names really limit
don't you think? Like you said, saying God is "Father" when in reality God is ALL. I like my daily prayers, because they are gender neutral.

Sufis often call God "Beloved", and I really like that.

5. God is ALL is limiting.
It's all limiting when it comes to God. "God is a symbol...God is just a symbol for God."--Paul Tillich

7. you'd like my husband's button
he wears sometimes. It says, "If your god is dead, try one of mine"
