Unitarian-Universalists ... check in!
Edited on Thu Apr-14-05 07:05 PM by Maat
I'm a member of both UU and Church of Religious Science.

On edit:
I think that Elshiva is a Universalist at heart! Bless her!

1. I'm a UU
I have been a member for almost two years.

So, I still feel like I'm pretty new to it.

2. The spiritual path is unending, no?
I attend both UU and Church of Religious Science (more the affirmative-prayer, mystical end of things). UU appeals more to my sense of community and social activism. Both are really fun, and both encourage each individual to explore spirituality and find their own path.

If we knew all the answers, and had nothing to explore, it wouldn't be any fun, would it?

3. I graduate in May, trained to be a UU minister.
:)

Taking a year off to sort out all the junk from the gems I learned in Christian seminary, then I'll go search for a church. Maybe I'll end with a DU UU in my congregation! (I can only hope!) :hi:

9. You're very special, Elshiva!
I just joined an Interfaith Group; it is chaired by my friend, Gayle. Gayle, Maat and Elshiva are universalists (and that's a good thing). We need to keep that peace consciousness growing.

6. UU here
I joined in April 2005. I love it. My first sermon there mentioned Rabbi Jesus, Buddha, Prof. Hawkings, Dr. Gould, Prof, Einstein, and Mark Twain. I had to go back and my gf urged me to join (I don't like commitiment to an org) yet I did. Best thing I did in years.

8. That is SO cool!
I belong to both Church of Religious Science and a UU church. That works for me!

I think it is a whole lot of fun to meet different people at UU services.

I learn about so many unique ways to express spirituality; it always brightens my day.

It sounds like you are a very special person! Blessings to you on your path!

Is "Merry Meet" something I can say here? If it means that I'm glad to meet you, I am!

10. Merry Meet to you!
And thank you for your kind wishes.
Do you know there is a UU group called CUUPs - the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans? It's been around since the mid-80s. I used to belong to a chapter in NJ but haven't found one in Maryland.

11. Oh, I'm sorry there is not a local chapter.
But thanks for the name; maybe I can talk about it with my local Pagan friends - and they can see whether or not there is a SoCal chapter.

I enjoy honoring all paths.

Take care!

17. HeeHee.
I'm friends with Proud Lefty; we in a 'circle of women' who are spiritual group. We were joking around about calling ourselves 'cows.'

Proud Lefty, you are a Spiritual Independent.

You would be perfect for a Unitarian-Universalist church - and they even have a 'congregation' on-line at www.uua.org .

18. And this group is rapidly growing on its own
I'm absolutely amazed how many progressive women they are out there so spiritually advanced and looking for a group to connect with and grow. That's why we decided to organize and it's definitely growing and forming quickly ... like it's meant to be.

22. Hey! The new logo!
I can't say I particularly like the new logo, although I have to admit it's eye-catching. I don't like how the UUs try to recreate themselves every few years in some way. I mean, we have a hard time describing who we are as a movement, which is both why we don't get lots of new members and also gets harder to do each time we reinvent our image.

Besides, I really liked the old logo, I'll probably get it tatooed on me at some point.
