A truly unique spiritual perspective
KOGI Lost Tribe of of Pre-Columbian America

The Kogi believe the Sierra Nevada to be the 'Place of Creation' and the 'Heart of the World'.

They call themselves the Elder Brothers of humanity and consider their mission to care for planet. They understand how the planet works as an integrated unit rather than the separation of all things in our worlds.

Much like other ancient tribal civilizations, that still exist on the planet, they believe themselves to be the custodians of the planet Earth here to keep things in balance. They achieve this through meditation wherein they communicate with all living things on the planet - humans, animals, plants, rock, etc.

They live in Aluna, an inner world of thought and potential. From Aluna they astral travel or remote view to places both on and off the physical planet.

Their sacred lands are perceived as a metaphysical symbol of cosmic forces within the whole world - an oracle of the natural balance and health of the planet.

As with other indigenous tribes, Kogi society has changed little in the past five centuries.

They survived as a culture because the Kogi focus all their energy on the life of the mind as opposed to the life of a body or an individual.

Fundamental to that survival is the maintenance of physical separation from their world and the rest of humanity. They are very protective of their sacred space and the dense jungle is not kind to tourists.

They worry about the destruction of the rain forest as well as the planet itself. This area embraces some of the most biologically diverse tropical rainforests on the planet. The Kogi are inseparable from the rainforest habit in which they have lived since the dawn of time.

As with most indigenous tribes a connection to Spirit or entities from other worlds who bring messages, is found.

Through oracle propheices and message with Spirit, they are aware of a great change that is coming now to planet Earth. Their Mountain is dying, symbolizing this transition. Similar to what many other tribes around the world see is a world that was about to be destroyed by the misuse of consciousness. Then they saw the emergence of light consciousness as part of the process of humanity emerging as a race of beings in higher evolved light bodies. This strongly connects with the metaphysical teachings of our times.

2. cool... very interesting read. thanks

I thought this was a very unique perspective, and makes a great deal of sense, metaphysically speaking.

The Kogi do not see us as "sleeping" as many of the Hindu and Oriental religions perceive us. The Kogi see us as "dead". We are not alive, but only shadows of the energy we could be. We do not have enough life force energy and consciousness to be classified by them as real people.

3. They are remarkable beyond words.
If you ever get a chance to see the documentary 'The Elder Brother's Warning 'or' The Message from the Heart of the World', jump at it. I've never wtnessed anything quite like it. I love these people, truly.

I understand that Alan Ereira, the producer that put it together has started a Kogi fund and will send out a copy of the documentary for a $50 donation. BeHereNow contacted him via email and has his addy.

I'm thinking of encouraging PBS to air it. I'm not sure where I first saw it, maybe PBS. They should air it once a year, at least. Nothing like it has ever moved me more.

4. Interesting article, but I wonder many things...as usual

These people rarely see outsiders. They know nothing or little of the modern world. They have no influences on their way of life except what they perpetuate. They can see changes occuring naturally in their environment, but do they know what causes them? They may see results of global warming, but not know the reasons for it. They then need to come up with an explanation. They turn to their Shaman, and their deities (diety) for answers. How can they come up with answers to what is really taking place since they have no contact with the modern world?

They have a Shaman who is taught for the first nine years of his life in a dark cave. He becomes the spiritual leader.

They use coca leaves to induce "visions", my word, not the articles.

How is this REALITY? I guess this is my question after reading the article. Of course what they do among themselves is real for them, but taken in the context of the rest of the earth and the universe, how could we ever believe that their reality reflects the REAL world?

I admire their ability to survive under adverse conditions and to lead a peaceful existence. I think it would be wonderful to be a part of their lives for a while to really learn about their lives.

5. What is your criteria of what makes the "real" world?

I would imagine that "my" real world is different than "your " real world. Is one any less real than another? How do you decide which is the *real* real world?
IS the world for the survivors of the tsunami the same as your world?

What in your opinion, constitutes "REAL"?

I think the Kogi are endlessly fascinating and amazing.....to be so tuned to the earth......thanks Indigo :)

6. I agree with you that they are fascniating and amazing!
I guess I was thinking of the real world as all of ours...tsunami victims, yours, mine, whoever where we are interacting with others of different beliefs, different lifestyles, different nationalities, different economies, different languages, etc.

I wasn't implying theirs isn't real. Wrong choice of a word. My ignorance.

But theirs is a closed society, isn't it? At least I got that impression. They don't interact with outsiders if they can keep from it.

What would happen to them if they were suddenly taken from their surroundings and placed in a completely different environment...say a small town or a large city? They wouldn't be allowed to return to their way of life. That would be a shame, of course. But would their reality be the same after this happened to them.

What constitutes "real"? Whatever we can experience with our senses which depends upon the brain to interpret them. Not all brains interpret the same way due to intelligence, health of the brain, environment, backgrounds, learned behaviors....

I don't know if any of that makes sense. What is real to you?

Thanks for your reply.
