that is because the area in the brain for 'that' is located in such close proximity to the thought function area that it sees to just get sticky on ones thoughts... i am right brain dominant and think in metaphor and concepts..
i am somewhat autistic or perhaps synesthesia. when people get real left brain on me i see their lips moving but don't understand a word they are saying..it might as well be Chinese. when that happens i know they are so digitally minded they will get the same response when i talk to them.. but they will think I'm crazy..
I have been somewhat depressed all my life...but, if i told you about it, you would be depressed about it too..
When i learned to meditate, it became all very clear what depression is all about... ..the thoughts and such that run thru your head are not YOU or the SELF.. it is simply the way the 'Wet Ware' works. it is like someone is turning the dial of an old AM Radio real slow back and forth all the time.. or like a barking dog at night, it isn't the dog that keeps you awake, it is your emotional reaction to the barking dog.. the adrenaline produced when you attach an 'emotion' to a word, object, thing or mental picture {concept}. and such with life in general.. learning to not attach negativity or aversion to thins or even positivity {attachment}..such as thinking that the absence of something or the acquisition or presence of something will make you happy or unhappy as the case may be...that is illusory. and the media has this down to a science, and wields it like a weapon.. or a carrot on a stick
"A negative thought will continue and increase exponentially until replaced by a positive thought, however the positive thought has to be cultivated" ..H.H. the Dalai Lama.
so the media keeps your mind swirling and churning on "Nonsense" to keep you from figuring it out with "Sense". they are controlling you until you take control of your mind.. and they have demonetized all the methods.. Meditation is the easiest.. and quickest, repetitious exercise like jogging and distance bike riding and learning to play a musical instrument with classical instruction and daily practice.
the techniques of Mediation has been preserved by the Buddhists and Hindus..etc. but meditating does not make you a Buddhist or Hindu.. it is just a method for training the mind that they use.
you can find some simple examples of how to do it at
http://www.buddhanet.net they have a little video and some audio instruction in their audio section. it has been compared to learning to play an instrument, you should have a teacher{but there are a lot of tapes and other info today} you need to practice every day and it takes about as long to learn. usually about a year, but you can see results in month or two.
after a short time i began to recognize the Depressive thoughts and had learned the technique to just not attach to them and let them pass.. like all the other negative stuff. being in the 'center' it is easier to recognize the extremes..
