bring me to tears, but she did.
Her voice is so pure, so expressive. She's one of the greats. My wife is a musician, and a very harsh critic of the corporate music being pushed on us. She played this CD through three times. straight. She even dared mention Mariza in the same sentence with Striesand. Striesand is the gold standard with my wife. A singer has to be extraordingary to even stand in Barbra's shadow. Still, Barbra has no equal, but Mariza's "Terra" is worth a listen, and the shelling out $9.99 at the Apple iTunes store, or better yet, at your local brick and mortar record store.
Mariza has passed the "wife test" and that means I am quite confident when I recommend "Terra" to you.

http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/25201370/review/26415296/terraHere is a live performance of Chaplin's "Smile." On the CD she does it at a slow, soulful tempo that will rip your heart out, but here she rocks it out.
