I'm listening to the new album right now, All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt. I picked it up at their show last night in Columbus. Maybe about 50-60 people there, Monday night shows are never well attended. But Nomeansno put on a hell of a show for their diehard fans regardless. One guy next to me had driven three hours to come see them (it's their first appearance in Columbus in 15 years).
At first glance, the guys in nomeansno look like the cool dads down the block, who you suspect of doing much more interesting things than you do. Don't let appearances fool you - they may be gray and approaching, if not past 50; but they rocked as hard as any band of young dudes half their age, and played with an amazing technical proficiency that has put most of the bands I have seen live to shame.
I almost didn't go, I was feeling a little tired. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how foolish I was being. And I would have been a huge fool to miss this show. I'm not the biggest nomeansno fan (i didn't empty my account to buy all the albums I don't have and a bunch of t-shirts, and of course I don't have some of their classic albums), but I have to say that this was one of the best shows I have ever seen, and I'm super glad I saw them
I can't name their whole set list, but off the new album they played In Her Eyes, Heaven is the Dust Beneath My Shoes and Til I Die. They also played Give Me the Push, I Can't Stop Talking, and closed with Rags and Bones.
I have to say that if anyone who reads this gets the chance to see them, it is not to be passed up for any excuse. If your wife is having a baby, I'm sure that Rob will deliver the kid then keep on playing.
