NIN---Year Zero AMAZING VIRAL MARKETING |
|
Trent has really outdone himself! The concept album follows a WALL of viral marketing, including many websites, secretive 'drops' of USB drives with music and clues... The fans are buying it up! It really is very cool...
But...
I have not seen a single mention of the fact that the entire 'campaign' is lifted from William Gibson's novel "Pattern Recognition."

1. I only care about the music. |
|
All that stuff is super cool, but if it doesn't have the chops to back it up it doesn't matter.
So how's the music? :)
Pattern Recognition was very cool, btw. The idea also sounds like that bad game EA put out a few years back where people got clues from websites and such.I hope NIN is closer to the book you mention than the game I mention.

2. That song they have been playing in the pre-release has a great intro |
|
...but I usually turn it down when it comes on. I turn down half the songs on K-Rock, "Everything Alternative".

3. I haven't put on the radio for anything other than a Red Sox game in 20 years. |

I'll still try to hear this though.I do like the band (though one of Trent's best songs is "Suck" with Pigface, imo). But I listen to weird ass shit so take that with a grain of salt. :)
