Birds of southern Mississippi
I posted this in the photo group, but thought you all might be interested in it too. And as always, if I've mis-identified a bird or don't know what kind of bird it is, I hope you'll help this very novice birder learn something new. :hi:

Is it a heron or an egret or a crane? I dunno, it was too far away for me to make a positive I.D.

It wasn't until after I took this shot that I realized it was two different pair of birds flying in what seemed to be a mini-flock. But there are two pelicans and two herons. As a bonus, also noticed only after I downloaded the photo onto my laptop, there's a loon floating in the water.

I'm pretty sure this is some kind of heron. I don't know why I like this shot so much, but it's my current desktop.

Here's another example of how birds of a feather don't always flock together. So we've got a pelican and a heron, but what the heck is that little white bird?

A real, live blueboid of happiness! (Although in truth, this bird was not happy I was playing paparazzi with it.)

Roosting egrets!

I'm not sure what kind of bird this is, but it's got to be one of the coolest photos I've ever taken!

If you'd like to see some fantastic bald eagle shots, check out this thread in the Photo Group: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=280&topic_id=12754&mesg_id=12754

1. The first bird is a Great Egret
The herons are Great Blue Herons. The small white bird with the heron is a Snowy Egret.

The last bird might be a warbler, but that's a really keen shot, whatever it is!!!

2. The bird in the last shot
caught my eye because of its interesting flight movement. It kind of hovered around the branches, like a large, almost slow motion hummingbird. It was really quite striking.

3. I'm thinking the last bird is a flycatcher
but identifying flycatchers from a photo? not my bag!

great photos regardless!
