5. No ! No peepers yet.
But the redwings are back, the Short Beach parrots were flying thru my yard this weekend and I've seen some robins.

I'm still watching for eagles as I drive to work. There are lots of hawks in trees along I 91, but no eagles yet. They have been spotted in Wallingford where I work, though

:hi: to you too, neighbor !

4. Related spring observations:
I heard the 1st Whippoorwill the other night. A little early, I think.

The Goldfinchs are molting.

The male Bluebirds are looking good and are house hunting.

The ambhibians are all goofed up. It's been a very dry 1st quarter, vernal ponds are almost dry or non-existant. Peepers call a little early in the evening then quit as though there's no point to it. The Upland Chorous Frogs should have started weeks ago yet can't even get a chorus going. Heard a few Southern Leopard Frogs calling, they're late too. First American Toads of the year last night, on time but where's the gd rain? Looks like another drought year on deck.

7. Around my neck of the woods, the red winged blackbirds are at
the feeders all year round, but especially in the winter months. However, the cardinals are singing like springtime and the mockingbirds are doing their territorial display. I'd say the birds think it's spring.

8. Sure is
They have the most unmistakeable trill -- I heard it outside my window the other morning and knew that spring is on the way.

9. The trill of a Red wing BB is one of my favorite sounds of Spring!
I hear them and I conjure up images of humid summer days and the sound of thunderstorms!

I saw two Belted Kingfishers yesterday and I swear I heard an Baltimore Oriole.

14. Conk-la-reeeeeeeeeee!
One of my favorite sounds when I lived in Florida, those fabulous red wings! I miss them desperately, we have no reeds in the immediate vicinity of our house here in Michigan.:(
