Wild Turkeys
I'm seeing large flocks of them on the edges of the woodlands. Groups range from half a dozen to dozens.

Just heard today that a couple of turkeys appeared in a neighborhood about 1 mile from the inner city.

4. Do they nest in trees?
You know how you notice something out of the ordinary in the landscape that you see regularly? I was driving home near dusk the other night and I saw large masses in the trees down the road from where I see the wild ones on a regular basis. THe next time I drove by there I checked to see if they were squirrel nests, but there was nothing there

5. Are turkeys a sign of spring?

They've made quite a come-back in Michigan over the last couple of decades.

6. There was a male and female in the field last weekend at my parents
house...Central Ohio

First time EVER we have seen wild turkey this far north.

They are usually farther south like Vinton County and Hocking County. And they were not shy at all, they knew we were there, stayed their distance pecking away, and let us get fairly close for a LONG time.
