The blue grossbeaks are here! We only see them for awhile
in the spring. Haven't seen any rose breasted grossbeaks yet, and we didn't see any evening grossbeaks this past winter. We have bluebird babies in the nestboxes, and a nest full of wrens in an azalea bush. I hope we get some mockingbird babies this year. They are my favorites.

Happy Spring!

2. I live in North Georgia, and we do have quite a variety.
We've had a bird feeding station here for 26 years. It's better than teevee!

4. When did you last see Evening Grosbeak?
It's been about 12 years since I last saw some here in s. Wisconsin. They used to be a regular winter visitor.

There was a rash of reports of Blue Grosbeak here last spring, prompting speculation that it is undergoing a range expansion, along with other southern species (can you say "global warming"?). I have yet to see one, though.

5. Sunday, May 14th, I saw the male 1st, then the female, but I haven't
seen them since. I haven't seen the blue grossbeaks again since the initial sighting last week. It has been much cooler in May after an unusually hot April, here in Georgia.
