If I leave in the evening, I hate to turn ON the light, much less, LEAVE it on until I return as I don't want to disturb it.
This has been going on for two years now, so it is not a passing thing.

Is it possible for me to have a birdhouse put in that corner so it will have a better place to sleep and possibly be able to use my light when I go out?

1. Don't worry about it.
If your normal routine will bother the bird, it will just find somewhere else to roost. Probably won't roost in a birdhouse, but it may nest there in breeding season.
