The movie "The Breach"
It's about a mole within the FBI. During one scene he's in a park in DC in February. Snow is on the ground. Singing in the background? Yellow warblers, ovenbirds, mourning doves, and carolina chickadees, among others.

Perhaps appropriate to the location, but totally inappropriate to the season. Good times.

1. Yeah, they don't always do their research
If one was to judge from the world of commercials, two of the most common species are Mourning Warbler and Savannah Sparrow!

2. What's possibly worse
In "Blood Diamond" the bird noises are for the most part North American songbirds.

4. ovenbirds?
Okay I am not the biggest expert but are ovenbirds at all likely in DC? I have lived and birded in the area for many years and unless there is a different name that I know that is one I have never seen period.

8. DC's most famous warbler
Mr. NIXON. What hobby, if any, do you have, Mr. Hiss?
Mr. HISS. Tennis and amateur ornithology.
Mr. NIXON. Is your wife interested in ornithology?
Mr. HISS. I also like to swim and also like to sail. My wife is interested in ornithology, as I am, through my interest. Maybe I am using too big a word to say an ornithologist because I am pretty amateur, but I have been interested in it since I was in Boston. I think anybody who knows me would know that.
Mr. McDOWELL. Did you ever see a prothonotary warbler?
Mr. HISS. I have right here on the Potomac. Do you know that place?
The CHAIRMAN. What is that?
Mr. NIXON. Have you ever seen one?
Mr. HISS. Did you see it in the same place?
Mr. McDOWELL. I saw one in Arlington.
Mr. HISS. They come back and nest in those swamps. Beautiful yellow head, a gorgeous bird.

7. I thought of another one:
In Kingdom of Heaven, during the winter scenes in France, an Eastern Wood-Peewee can be heard singing.

9. "For the Birds"
Feb. 26 installment is about birds in commercials. Perhaps Laura has been lurking here. ;-) (I know she posts at Salon.)
