Behavioral interaction between Red Tailed hawk and raven.
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 11:42 AM by Maestro
I posted in the photography forum a series of behavioral shots between a red tailed hawk and a raven. It culminated in this last shot. I call it, "The Shove."

1. Wow, that's an awesome shot. Nice series too.
I've seen ravens get after hawks too. Also, It's not unusual too see them hanging around each other peacefully. I see a lot of magpies with redtail hawks as well.

Last spring I watched a raven squawking at, and picking at the tail feathers of an adult bald eagle. The eagle put up with it for a while before chasing the raven away. On that particular occasion several bald eagles were taking turns on some type of carrion (it was just out of view) and the raven's were trying to get a share of it for themselves. Normally, this isn't a problem. I see eagles and ravens together on road-killed deer all the time.

Who knows? Maybe they're just playing?
