I don't know crap about birds but I saw something today that amazed me
Northeast Oklahoma. I looked out the window and for a minute I thought a bunch of dandelions had somehow sprouted flowers in an hour or so, in a light rain. Then a few of them flew up and away! I sneaked out the door for a closer look and there were about 100 little tiny BRIGHT yellow birds in the driveway apparently nibbling on ...bugs? or something...they all flew away before I could get close enough for a good look but they were yellow all over and about 3 inches long. Canaries?...do those live in the 'wild'???

I came back inside and in a few minutes I looked out again and they were all back out in the gravel driveway AND several what I suppose were bluebirds (a very pretty bright blue), AND 5 or 6 male Cardinals all poking around the
gravel. And the batteries in my camera were dead. :grr:

But I can't figure out what those little bitty yellow guys were! It was kind of a pretty scene anyway, all those nice bright colors! :D

3. Seems pretty odd behavior for yellow warbler, though
how about American Goldfinch?

4. Bright blue like blue satin ribbons? Were they real small? Were the
wings a bit darker? If so I would say it was an Indigo Bunting.

If the yellow birds had black wings I would say they were Goldfinches. Yellow Warblers stay high in the trees. If you live near water you could have seen a Protonotary Warbler, but if they were in a large group, I would go with the Goldfinch.

Protonotary Warbler.
