I have seen 600
Last week I went to Florida and got 22 lifers.

I saw all the Florida goodies except Mangrove Cuckoo and Short-tailed Hawk.

I got the Ani, the jay, Sandwich Tern, Frigatebird, Gray Kingbird, Limpkin, Brown Noddy, Sooty Tern, Red-footed Booby, Masked Booby, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Sedge Wren, Shiny Cowbird, Bahama Mockingbird, Antillean Nighthawk, Roseate Tern, Snail Kite, Purple Gallinule, Wilson's Plover, Black-whiskered Vireo, White-crowned Pigeon, and Spot-breasted Oriole.

I am now at 615. :D

1. Is Florida still part of North America?
I thought we revoked their charter after 2000. ;)

Anyhow, sounds like you had a good week. Congratulations!

2. Congratulations!
I'm going down to the far southern Texas coast, South Padre. I should get some birds there that I usually do not get to see and as usual, I'm bringing my camera. One of the birds rarely seen in the US that I hope to see is the Plain Chachalaca.

3. I saw a chachalaca when I went down to South Texas a
few years ago. Lots of great birding down there, especially at Santa Ana and Laguna Atascosa. I really loved seeing the green jays.

4. Congrats!
I just made it to 350 this weekend myself. Considering I have not birded outside the Midwest and mid to northern East Coast (with the exception of a brief visit to Puerto Rico and Mexico), I think I'm doing pretty good.

6. Thanks!
That is good, considering the areas you've birded. :D

You should go to Arizona. It's OFF THE HOOK.

7. I have a conference in Albuequerque, NM in January 2008
and our next family reunion in 2008 is planned to take place at a lodge in the mountains near Denver, so I have a feeling that 2008 will be a banner year for me in terms of birding...

8. I just hit 50.
saw an Indigo Bunting and Carolina Chickadee in the backyard.
:woohoo:

OK, I've only been at it for two weeks, but I'll get to 600 some day!
I just hope the neighbors dont think I'm too weird for sitting on the back porch with binoculars all evening.
