A friend gave me a copy of the species bar charts.
For the period I will be in Florida next may, there are 96 species that I could see that would be either life or ABA-list birds for me.
I'm astounded. We're supposed to come up with a list of target birds for the trip. They're pretty much all target birds for me!
I was thinking that adding 20-30 birds to my list was doable, but now it seems that I could go much higher.
Time to start saving up!

1. The Lane guide's a bit of a dong. |

Just so you know.
(Trivia: the terms "ding" and "dong" (insofar as birding goes) were coined at Ding Darling NWR. :D )

2. Really? what's the issue with it, or is it just out of date? |
|
I actually only have a copy of the section with the bar graphs and accepted state list. Are the bar graphs no longer accurate?

3. Most of the discussions are about wintering birds in the text |
|
Very little is said about spring migrants.

4. Oh, that's alright then. |
|
Won't effect what I am using it for.
Still, I'm guessing that some discussion of where the best fallout locations might be (aside from the Dry Tortugas) would be helpful, if that's what is lacking.
