1. I may have to do that this year.

I don't have a good yardright now for seed feeders - no cover whatsoever for birds, so I'd end up feeding squirrels. But perhaps I'll hang a hummer feeder in front of the kitchen window instead.

2. Yup - it's time

I caught a Fox Sparrow passing through on the way up north. According to the book they winter south of me and summer north of me. The pic is through double pane double dirty glass. At first I thought it was just a huge sparrow then saw the rufus tail. :D

Be innovative

Those tall feeders are old halogen lamp fixtures, were 150/300 watts - am now on 10 watt CFLS in my place so no need for them pole lamps.

I think the birds like my conversion - squirrels don't, can't get around the "cup" portion at the top - but some larger squirrels can, not the red squirrels or chipmunks.

I also have two suet feeders hung on a clothesline/rope - too wobbly for them squirrels to navigate

Nuthatches and chickadees go for the suet feeder, and an occasional woodpecker.

Other visitors to my "gang" of feeders include red-poles, blue jays, and tons of sparrows.

4. Great feeders!

I am going to keep my eyes out for old halogen lamps!we feed all winter,too. This is my annual hummingbird thread. Every spring,I get a new hummingbird feeder and hang it when they get to Maryland,so that there's one up by the time they get here. I hang the rest of their feeders when I notice arguing about whose feeder it is!

Finally saw one today!

8. Saw one more today, May 4.

Plus in mid-April I visited the Texas Hill Country and saw around 30 Black chinned hummers.
