Question about binoculars and tripods
How do the binocs attach to the tripod?

I know my camera has a hole in the bottom, for a screw attachment.

Is there some sort of adaptor I need for my binoculars, that would screw into place while cradling the binocs?

Thanks for any help you can give. :)

1. not ignoring you just not sure what you are asking
Most people have a special scope that they use with the tripod. They don't use their binoculars with the tripod.

What are you trying to do and maybe we can offer better ideas?

For instance if you want to put the binoculars on a tripod to point to a particular bird...most groups use a scope for that purpose. Each person wears their own binoculars PLUS there is a scope that can be set up on the tripod and pointed to pick out a certain bird. (This is usual for getting a rare gull in a huge flock for instance or a Ross in a huge flock of Snow geese for another example.)

If you are doing digiscoping photography, this would again be a scope plus digital camera set-up.

even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

2. Ah, that's my confusion. The binocs get heavy and my hands get wobbly...
... and I was thinking that it would be nice to have them on a tripod. But it's the SCOPE that goes on the tripod. I get it.

(As you can see, I'm quite a newbie at this!)

I guess what got me thinking about a tripod was the fact I do a lot of my observing from my bedroom window, where I can watch birds as they gather at feeders or in nearby trees, or browsing in the meadow. Sometimes they're relatively still for long stretches of time, and it's fun to watch them so up-close, so intimately. That's where my binoculars start to weigh me down.

Is that the kind of situation where a scope would be used, when you have a subject generally in place for long durations?

:)

3. yes you can set up a scope to watch a feeder
That would work.

When I was having a great deal of trouble with muscle tremor from holding my binoculars, I found that adding regular exercise with light dumb-bells -- starting with a couple pounds each and working up to 5 pounds each -- made a big difference in strengthening the muscles in question. I do the exercises maybe 15 minutes a day 2-3 days a week, every other day, never two days in a row. It can make a big difference.

5. There are such adapters
Some binocs come with them, but I think you can buy them separate. I believe you would need glue it to the bottom of the binocs. I've seen people with particularly powerful binocs use tripods.

6. Hmmm... your post prompted me to look and see...
... where an attachment might be glued. When lo and behold, I see there is a place on the FRONT of the center hinge where something could be screwed in. It's right where the "B" is in this photo:

At that point it finally dawns on me to pay a visit to the Bushnell website, and here's what I found:

Binocular Tripod Adapter
16-1001CM
Makes any binocular tripod-ready.
Recommended for prolonged observation
with any binocular of 10x or more.

Cool. This may be just what I need. :)
