migration time
How is it going in your area? Two weeks ago Wood Thrushes and Yellow Billed Cuckoos were calling, now they are silent and presumably gone. Yesterday I saw a Rose Breasted Grosbeak at the feeder, definitely a migrant. I fear I've missed a lot of the warblers, have seen some Black and Whites but that's about it.

1. I'm starting to see migrants at my favorite wildlife refuge
Last week I saw 70 - 80 American White Pelicans and today I saw a pair of Great Egrets.

3. Fantastic day on Saturday up at Lake Erie
92+ species, 17 warbler sps, 19 shorebird sps. Our first stop in the AM was at Sheldon's marsh, and the trees were dripping with birds. 4 yellow-billed cuckoos! a FLOCK of Red-eyed Vireos!

Got a few life birds, too: Blackpoll Warbler, Gray-Cheeked Thrush, Sanderling, Philadelphia Vireo, Red-necked Phalarope.

looks to be a good fall migration - heard that shorebirds did well in the breeding season, and obviously a good year for other birds as well up north.

I have looked for GC and Phili Vireo before to no avail!

Sounds like a good haul!

4. A gang of scarlet tanagers blew through my place yesterday.
Too bad the males were in drag. They were all over the place, gleaning and foraging furiously. Gone in 45 minutes.
