Wednesday, 12/21: I worked out today--did you?
I did 35 minutes on the elliptical and then went to the weight room to work my legs.

Being away for 2 weeks was tough, and I'm sore after yesterday's upper-body workout, but of course I'm glad to be back.

3. 4.5 miles on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the hubby's cardio-glide.
Not sure I like the cardio-glide, but it's something different.

7. I don't see that.
Do you have any evidence for it? I know that my daily walks work really, really well to keep me going, and the fact is, I'm a creature of habit. I like routine. I won't do things just for the fact that they're different - I have to have a reason to do things like that.

And my body seems happy with walking and pilates.

8. If you do the same thing over and over again
your body get used to it and adapts. People often do the same thing over and over again and plateau. Once you change your workout a bit, for example switch from treadmill to elliptical, you body isn't used to it and it's a new challenge. This tends to break the plateau. If you hit a plateau with your goals, consider changing things like that.

9. hm. tough call.
There are a lot of things I'm limited on - elipticals are out, jogging's out, and until I get a recumbent bike for home, stationary bike is out. I have rotten knees and I'm hyperflexible - my connective tissue is really stretchy. My physical therapist and I are pretty comfortable with this routine - she's not pleased when I injure something ELSE....

Could I do like 3 days or a week of something not the treadmill and go back to the treadmill - assuming I ever plateau - after 4 months, I'm still going farther, walking faster, and trimming - or do I have to change for a month or two?

10. If it's still working for you, and you're not bored, don't change.
But it's true that you will probably hit a plateau, and when that happens, you need to mentally be prepared to make a change. Start thinking about new possibilities now, like maybe start saving up for a stationary bike for home or something, so in a few months when you see your progress start to level out, you'll have something new to look forward to! :hi:
