Dem's new 10-pt. plan: Have you taken a real good look???

I think the Dem's new plan is fantastic. Has everybody here signed it yet?

I posted a message about it in the "GD: Politics" forum, asking people to sign. I think it's a great political document -- one that will help WAKE UP brainwashed Bush voters -- but several DUers had qualms about it, judging from some of the replies I got back.

If you haven't already seen and/or signed the petition, would you please take a look?? I think this is a critical juncture for the Democrats (and the country) and that the Dems* need all the support they can get.


* Even though I wish more would vote against Condi....

I think this is directed not at "the base", but at the vast number of middle-Americans in the suburbs and rural areas that voted for Bush. At least, that's my take on it. It's designed, I think, to get these voters to start listening to the Democrats again, kind of trying to "unbrainwash" them. That's why I think there's stuff in there like "new school buses for rural areas".

I got into long discussions with people who were disappointed it wasn't more ambitious. My view was that we need to go one step at a time, start fairly small and then build on our successes: I don't think, for example, America as a whole would be receptive to a universal health care proposal right now. Many are still scared after all the hullabaloo surrounding Hillary's. And with the war and the deficit and everything, it's probably not a good time.
