In addition to the general madness of the week, the convention's timing(which was pushed later in the summer so that LBJ could be renominated on his birthday(nobody realizing during the planning stages that LBJ might not end up BEING the nominee)left Hubert Humphrey with too little time to come back the fifteen-point lead Nixon had over him in late August.
Some old-time Dems still say that Humphrey would have pulled it out if he'd had two or three more days to campaign.

Hey I'm about to get off of work but I wanted to know if you knew anything about the Council for National Policy? I just read some stuff on the alter-net and I'm baffled why know one has called anyone of our politicians on this because they are claiming to be open and a nonprofit organization, though many of their members and meetings are a secret.
