So where do we sign up for the mid-term battle?

Seriously, I'd like to know exactly what the plan is to overturn the Repug majority in the house and sentate in 2006. I'm about tired of watching the best interests and needs of the people get bent over and boned by the wing-nuts.

I appreciate many of the sentiments expressed on these pages and all, don't get me wrong...but its no secret that the repugs suck. I know it, you know it...we ALL know it. Lets get on with the part where we rip the face off of their corporate backed legislation and show the public what these skeeves are really up to.

Now is the time to be framing debates, holding focus groups in places where seats are going to be open, and finding the weak link in the armor of every repug up for re-election.

I'm tired of talking about it. Lets just "git er dun".

1. I would start with you local congressional race or senate

race if you have one. You could also work for a gov's campaign if you have one.

2. MoveOn.org. They just launched their campaign to take back the

house and senate in 2006. You can find local meetings to get involved in. If there is not one near you, then start one! It's will be fun and rewarding, I'm doing it.

3. No good plan to defeat Repugs

I suspect there's not much chance of a Dem turnaround. The problem is they are split over the issue of allying with the giant corps and the super rich who profit from them. My evidence comes from a Progress foundation sponsored meeting shown on c-span 2 or 3 months back. Al Frum, an important Dem who I think is on the DNC, was asked by a reporter how the Dems propose to deal with the fact that they are hemmed in by the corporate contributions they get. Another panel member from the Nation (whose name excapes me) had pointed out that the Dean fundraising methods had proved that the party doesn't have to rely on corp contributions. But Frum had other ideas. "Be careful who you accuse" he said. "We have done quite well by going with business. That's what gave us the prosperous Clinton years."

In other words, the corporations will continue to poison any efforts to reform the party so that it can go in the direction of economic populism. I think this is very deep seated. I have the impression that the sinecures of Dem congressmen has made them so comfortable that they wouldn't think of changing their reliance on corporate contributions. I sometimes think that the problem with Kerry is not only that he himself is from the super rich, but he has become downright lazy from swimming in these circles. He kept promising to "take off the gloves" during the campaign, yet the very next day he flubs it by waiting weeks to answer accusations. If it's partly laziness that is defeating the Dems, it's not just Kerry.

4. Start with your local precinct meeting.

get involved, contribute (time as well as $) to the local party and if you have an itch.... RUN for local office. we need a deeper bench and a strong grass roots movement.
