I'm Going DINO Hunting!
Who is with me?

We need to send a message to all of our Democratic politicians, and a message in the only terms they understand; Power.

We need to target the 19 Democratic Senators who voted for the Bankruptcy bill for defeat in the Primaries. We need to identify a True-Blue Democrat in each of their states, and do the absolute maximum to get them the nomination and damn the consequences.

None of these people who voted for this bill are actually Democrats. Not a one. They have betrayed the working people who put them into office. They are DINOs; Democrats In Name Only, and they must be Made An Example Of.

Who is with me? Are you with me? Or are YOU a DINO?

1. I just got called being a freeper because I was against DNC money
being used to put Republican Blue Dog Democrats into office. I objected to people who believe in GOP ideals calling themselves Democrats, soliciting Democratic contributions, but the minute they are in office they vote against the middle class and with the GOP.

For that I was called a freeper.

This is a war, and I mean to win it, or die trying.

Welcome to the Side of Decency.

Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 10:52 AM by Melodybe
Lieberman hadn't bailed on him.

Fuck Joe Biden too, I'm calling his office to tell him to STFU, real democrats are busy working, trying to save this country and the middle class.

4. What is to decide who is a DINO?
A few weeks ago people were screaming about some Democrats being DINOs because they voting for a cabinet appointee. Yet if these same ones vote against something like the bankrupcy bill, they're not.

What is the criteria?

5. If they vote against our interests, they are DINOs
We have to start somewhere, the Evil 19 are the line.

We need to send a message that will bring the rest of them in line for fear of their positions.

Bite off a bigger piece of DINO, and we'll choke, so no more than the Evil 19.

8. The six who vote for torturer Gonzales voted for the GOP Debt Slavery
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 11:14 AM by Robbien
bill: Lieberman, Salazar, Nelsen, Nelsen, Landrieu, Pryer

So I am not sure what you are talking about here. Blue Dog Democrats vote with the GOP on each and every issue. The DNC had to twist these six guys arms to stand with the DNC on the social security issue because they were all making noises they wanted to stand by the side of Bush and kill Social Security.

9. What I am talking about here ...
is exactly what is in your post. You listed six people who voted for Gonzales and support *'s SS plan. But other Dems voted for Gonzales, but don't support the SS plan. What about them?

How many times would a Democrat have to vote for something * wants before they are labeled a DINO?

10. My opinion? Only once.
But you have to start somewhere, so I picked those 19.

If our Democrats won't find their own spines, we'll have to give them an artificial one;

11. There are certain clear cut bills which definately define where a
politico's beliefs lie.

The GOP Debt Slavery Bill (ie the bankruptcy bill) is one. There is no reason a person who supports the middle class would ever vote for this bill. Any person who voted for that bill voted against the people and for corporate lobbyists. They label themselves Blue Dogs and that is exactly what they are because they certainly are not Democrats.

14. REALISM!
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 12:20 PM by Dave Sund
Good God, people... You forget that if every Democrat who had voted for this bill had voted against it, we STILL would have lost the vote.

So, let me clue you in: There are no viable progressive candidates in Nebraska. None. Zero. Hell, Nelson's probably the only viable Democrat in the state. And, YES, he is a Democrat. He doesn't attack his party.

Unity does NOT mean ideological purity... You do far more damage to our cause by imposing an ideological litmus test on these people than supporting them. They have their flaws, but the most important vote they make is the vote for Democratic leadership. And in 2006, that's going to be the most important thing.

You're wrong. Dead wrong.

In order to stop things like this from happening, we need to step up pressure on our lawmakers to enact REAL campaign finance reform. Get the corporations out of our legislation.

Sorry, but I'll feel much better about this country on election night two years from now if Rick Santorum and Conrad Burns are lame ducks as opposed to Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson.

16. Yes, targeting and weakening Senators in primaries
is a great way to weaken incumbents and get us down to 35 Senators. Come on. I don't like the vote, but some of these Senators don't exactly come from progressive and enlightened states. And I'd love to hear of a viable Democrat who might oppose Ben Nelson.

22. Anyone who has the economic policy that is going to bring America
into the twenty-first century is going to appear to be a "DINO". Also creating a power struggle is only in the Republicans best interest. Differing ways of thinking, in a united group, is far better then people who all think the same.

23. Does "bring(ing)America into the twenty-first century"
have to mean being a corporate toady and supporting further layoffs and wage cuts(I.E., supporting more "free trade" deals)?

Why can't we move into the future by aligning ourselves with the working class majority around the planet?

When has being "pro-business" ever served anyone BUT big business?

And when have "pro-business" Democrats ever disagreed with Republicans on anything that mattered?

29. Yay!

Damn the consequences! Republicans in power for another decade! Better an extremist right-winger than a moderate leftist! Purity at any cost!

I'm not even a Democrat in name, seeing as I'm from the UK, but what you are advocating is exactly what the Republicans would love to see, and it would be catastrophic for both the Democratic party and the cause of left-wing principles in America.
