Dem phrase?: Soc Sec has 73% of 2042 benefit cover, Bush has 68% of todays
budget covered - which should we be talking about first?

comparing the 2042 future SS shortfall vs the current total federal budget)

On the scale of things, let's just remember that if we believe the Social Security Administration's rather downbeat forecast, in 2042, the Social Security -- the payroll tax will be taking in only 73 cents for every dollar of promised benefits. Right now, the Federal Government, actually, fiscal 2004, the Federal Government outside of Social Security, was taking in 68 cents of revenue for every dollar of spending. So I don't think we can get really upset about the notion that -- yes, you get the point. I guess I don't need to finish that sentence.

1. So, possible deficit spending for Social Security in 2042 is a "crisis"?

What about actual deficit spending for all other federal programs TODAY?

2. Oh dear
the Dems really don't have a clue if that's the best they can come up with in terms of talking points. Sounds like Kerry in the debates. Statistics don't have power. The appeals need to be more personal and certainly easier to remember. Are we really that outgunned?

3. LOL - :-) If they are depending on me - we are hurting! :-)
But I really think that 68% needs to be out and on the airways in someform.

Granted my lame phrasing is not the way :-)

But today is the crisis!

:toast:

:-)
