Fwd: It's Time To Support Those Who Always Support Us
This is an email I received from the Patrick Henry Democratic Club. It contains an important message regarding making sure we protect our strongest supporters in Congress. I understand that some of these representatives have challengers with millions of dollars ready to try to steal their seats in the next election.

Subject It's time to support those who always support us
Date: 6/9/2005 4:08:04 A.M. Pacific Standard Time
From: chairman@patrickhenrythinktank.org

This year we have repeatedly asked members of Congress to vote our way on a great many important items. Ten members of Congress have listened to us and have been there and voted the way we have asked them to vote on every major issue. These brave individuals are our first defense in the fight against tyranny and oppression. While many members of Congress have supported mega-corporations and war profiteers over us, these ten have shown that they would rather do the correct thing than pull in the big bucks for doing the wrong thing.

The Patrick Henry Democratic Club encourages all Democrats to support
and contribute to the following people who never fail to put us first. Let’s let them know how much we appreciate their support. Let’s let all members of Congress know that there are higher rewards in backing the people than in backing the interests of mega-corporations. Please contribute as much as you can to the courageous individuals on the following list. Every dollar counts when some of these people will be up against corporate-backed candidates in 2006.

Representatives with perfect voting records in 2005:

1. And then there's Ben Nelson, Joe Lieberman, Joe Biden, etc.
In a perfect world they'd be dusting off their resumes and hitting the bricks looking for work.

4. Add one for the GOP
if we kick out Ben Nelson or don't support his re-election 100%. We're lucky we have him, we can't get very many Democrats elected in Nebraksa.

We can do better in CT, I grant you that.

6. It would be more honest to have a Republican than Ben Nelson.

Nelson votes with the Republicans consistently. We can always count on him to support Bush. He's as bad as or worse than Zell Miller. If we give up on electing a real Democrat, we'll always wind up losing. If we kick him out and nominate a real Democrat, we might actually win. Then instead of no support we'd actually get a senator from Nebraska who liked the Democratic Party.

7. If we nominate a "real" Democrat in Nebraska we'll lose
A moderate Dem like Nelson can win in a winger state like NE. A liberal cannot at this time. With Nelson in the caucus, Byrd, Kennedy, etc. will chair committees if we manage to take control by one vote, his vote. Republicans allow candidates to taylor their views towards the state's electorate, why can't we?

8. It's Not About "Honesty"
it's about regaining power so we can fix all the crap the Republicans have done and put in our plans. We are NEVER going to regain power if you insist on having such a select membership. Do you think PA Republicans are in line with Arlen Specter? No, but they realized he would keep the safe seat while it would be a toss-up without him, and they now have a seat, PA, that they probably shouldn't have.

3. It's an action alert from one of the best Democratic action groups.
I'm really proud to be able to help get out the word.
