We can take the Alaska Congressional Seat for the first time since '72! Help us!
According to the latest poll, the Democratic Congressional candidate, Diane Benson, is only SEVEN POINTS BEHIND longtime incumbent knuckledragger Don Young.

If anybody out there in DU land has a few bucks they could send this weekend, it would be a big help.

Don Young has been one of the worst members of Congress in HISTORY! He embarasses Alaska and polarizes the national debate. He has fought to open Alaska to unregulated resource extraction and demonized anyone who disagrees with his "pave every inch of everything" approach. Don has also been an all out defender of Bush's war and a lifelong enemy of the labor movement.

Getting him out would cleanse the stench in Congress and end Alaska's long statewide nightmare of shameful representation in D.C.

Diane Benson is a solid progressive who wants us out of Iraq as soon as possible.

I know everybody is being hit up for money this weekend, but this one really matters.

1. I will do what I can -- he is one of Rolling Stone's 10 Worst!
Mr. Pork:

Powerful enough to earn the moniker "Alaska's Third Senator," this seventeen-term congressman and former tugboat captain knows how to haul home the bacon. Thanks in no small part to his efforts, Alaskans receive $1.87 in federal funds for every dollar they contribute in taxes. Last year, Young leveraged his post as chairman of the House Transportation Committee to stuff the highway bill -- "like a turkey," in his own words -- with nearly $1 billion in pork-barrel projects for his home state.

More than $400 million of the money was earmarked for two separate "bridges to nowhere." One, nearly as long as the Golden Gate, would serve an island community of only fifty people. The second, a monument to waste known as "Don Young's Way," would connect Anchorage to a patch of scarcely habitable marshland.

2. I donated. I wish I'd done it sooner -
My bank account was running quite low until the monthly paycheck was deposited.

Good Luck Diane! Good Luck Alaska!

:hi:
