Congressional Democrats MUST lead the fight against privatizing Iraqi oil
In the September vote, Democrats have to do all that they can to overturn the provisions in the most recent funding bill that are designed to push for privatizing the distribution network for Iraqi oil

If the privatization goes through, Iraq will lost almost all revenue from its oil supplies. This will leave the supposedly "democratic" Iraqi government totally at the mercy of the Bush adminstration and, after it leaves office, U.S.-dominated multinational oil corporations. Whatever sovereignty the Iraqi "government" now has will be lost forever. Support for the insurgency will massively increase, thus leading to a massive increase in the U.S. troop presence(and, let's face it, most likely a draft as well).

It's the path to decades of blood soaking the desert sands.

Democratic leaders failed this Thursday. They now have an obligation to fight as they did NOT do this time, to show the courage they didn't show this time, and to join with the antiwar and pro-justice American majority to end this nightmare.

Stopping the oil privatization is the only chance to preventing the war going on for years, possibly generations. And if that war isn't stopped, it will make all U.S. presidential elections(if both parties are pro-war as the DLC would like)pointless, since it won't be possible for any Democratic adminstration to govern as a Democratic administration if it accepts that paradigm.

The fight begins again. This time, we MUST win. The world depends on us to stop this madness.

1. We all know how that will go
They will talk big, and threaten action to stop the regime.
Karl Rove or Dick Cheney will make mysterious visits to Congressional delegates and suddenly just as any action to block the regimes plans will be dropped from any legislation.
Just like the funding.

2. Well, we need to light a fire under our guys this time.
It will be tough, but it's not ours to give it up.

3. I call your attention to this: Bush announces he will VETO gasoline price-gouging penalties
Bush is likely to veto legislation that would create hefty fines and criminal penalties for gasoline price-gouging, the White House said Wednesday.
