Obama's birth certificate

I was cruising aroud the Freeper website the last few days and noticed they were having a pointless argument as to why Obama has not released his "original" birth certificate. They went so far as to say that the one he has released was a forgery. Can someone tell me what the real issue is they are trying to smear him with? This is the first I have heard of it. Thanks.

11. That's not a birth certificate.

It's a "certificate of live birth" which was issued by the thousands to children arriving in the country from other countries without a birth certificate. This is what give the right-wing hope, saying he was born in Kenya and arrived later in the US via Hawaii and the way that the law is written ("If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.") his mother could not have conferred citizenship upon him at birth.

34. Certificate of live birth vs. Birth Certificate

I have two daughters that were born in Hawaii. Both recieved a Certificate of live birth from the hospital "Tripler Army Medical Center" and a Birth Certificate from the Dept of Vital Statistics, State of Hawaii.

The Certificate of live birth is issued to children who were born either in Hawaii at a medical facility or in some cases at a home or other location. There are still "tribes" or "Island People" who deliver their children in their villages without a doctor. These children are then taken to a medical clinic of some type and a Certificate of Live birth is issued. That is signed by a Doctor, certified by the state of Hawaii. That document is then presented to the State of Hawaii and a Birth Certificate is issued.

What is now the Gray area for the Birthers and what they are taking advantage of is the posibility that Obama was born in Kenya and brought to the state of Hawaii. Then presented to a Dr as if he was born in Hawaii. Never the less, he does have the "Green" State of Hawaii Birth Certificate, which makes him a US Citizen.

2. They claim he is not a natural-born citizen

and thus ineligible for the Presidency. The birth certificate clearly shows he was born in Hawaii and thus is a natural born citizen. Case closed.
McCain is the one who has the real problem. He was born in the Panama Canal and persons born there were not considered natural born US citizens until a law was passed a few years after McCain was born.

He wrote two books about his past. Maybe you should read them.

As far as his term papers, I really wonder how many people keep copies of their college term papers. About all I have left over from those days is my master's thesis.

But if this is the kind of thing you expect to see from a Presidential candidate I suggest you start working on accumulating all the term papers, transcripts and various records from the 5 schools Sarah Palin went to. It wil probably take at least 2 years to get that pile together.

her children being born overseas and actually conspired to fake Obama's birthplace, she would have faked her daughter's birthplace as well.

This is just another example of how the far right tries to get at Obama ... use his middle name to tie him to Islam and claim that he wasn't born in the US. This movement is large ... Time magazine reported in a recent poll that 25% of all those polled thought that Obama was a muslim and I've seen other polls that reported that in some parts of the country, large numbers don't think he was born in the US!!!!

racism. They're using their reasons to attack any politician who's parents were born in another country or territory, and they don't fully understand how the laws define what a natural born citizen is.
