Dick Durbin to Joe Sestak: Make clear what happened
Close Obama ally Sen. Dick Durbin from Illinois recently chimed in on the job offer
saga that has been mounting between Joe Sestak and the White House.

"At some point, I think Congressman Sestak needs to make it clear what happened," Durbin said.

this for the next couple weeks or months.

1. Thank you Dick Durbin for pushing an RNC talking point...Durbin is Exhibit A
as to why Dems are hopeless at leading.

4. I don't know that he's really pushing an RNC talking point.
The fact is that the longer this issue goes relatively unaddressed by both the administration and Sestak the more damaging it becomes. Both sides need to clarify what actually happened and then hopefully we can move on...

7. It is clear what happened. Sestak was one of many around the country
whom Rahm (and WH?) didn't want to see run. Maybe it is because they are part of that "left of the left" crowd.

Whether it was paid/unpaid is irrelevant.

Good for Sestak, who chose to run. It was well-worth my $100 contributed (and I don't live there) to see him buck the DNC and all those career politicians whose time to go has come.

Primary every (D) in the senate and nearly all them in the House.

12. You contributed $100 dollars to a senator who does not represent you?
That, sir, should be illegal. And you should be ashamed of yourself.

10. This is a GOP windfall
I cant believe the lack of discretion over this situation. Sure you could say this is just politics and no big deal but I fear where this all may lead.

2. Sestak says he was offered a job. It is up to the WH to explain
their side.

Durbin is trying to help the WH by trying to make Sestak
tell what everyone did. The WH says nothing inappropriste
happened.

Frankly, I think this is a silly issue. But the Republicans
are working to keep it out there. Issa says he believes
Sestak is telling the truth. Sestak had too much to lose
and therefore would not come up with this on his.

There is an old rule in Washington, Presidents never assume
blame.

This story could end if the WH could just explain why nothing
appropriate happend. The Republicans are not going to drop
this.

3. This is the lever the GOP was looking for - watch for the "special investigator" and all the
standard GOP bullshit politics. Their method is to always attack, especially when the Democrat they are after is popular and they have nothing to offer. Remember the continuous attacks on the Clintons...

5. Yesterday, Chris Matthews, David Gregory and Mrs.Greenspan
were explaining their extreme concern over this most heinously almost possibly illegal plot to save Arlen Specter. To prove how egregiously, heinously, terribly awful it was they were forced to show a video of Rush Limbaugh imitating Bill Clinton who according to Mr. Limbaugh alledgedly found no less than three jobs for someone named Monica. Chris and David and Mrs. Greenspan all looked extremely solemn after viewing Mr.Limbaugh's analysis and aggreed that this was a most heinous situation, which could sadly require hundreds of hours of additional media examination and explication to fully exhaust its commercial potentialities. All three agreed that they were ready to bear this crushinmgly heinous burden in order to fulfill their civic responsibility to inform the public. I was so moved by their selfless devotion to their journalistic ideals that I had to bolt for the bathroom.

13. I wonder if Penn. Dems are getting buyer's remorse?
Although to be sure, their choices were pretty pathetic this time around. We should have done better.

11. Whatever happened Sestak rejected it. If I'm walking down the street and some guy asks me if
I want to buy some crack, and I say no and keep walking, the onus is not on me to explain things.
