Pelosi Renounced by Candidates in Her Own Party
PERRY, Ga. — As if embattled Congressional Democrats did not have enough on their hands, some are opening up a new front in their fight to save their seats — against Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House and a leader of their own party.

Representative Jim Marshall, a Democrat here in central Georgia, spent much of a debate on Thursday night renouncing Ms. Pelosi, whose liberal views and San Francisco district have always been anathema to this region.

“Pelosi was never my choice for speaker,” Mr. Marshall said, eliciting boos from a skeptical audience in an arena here at the Georgia National Fair. Mr. Marshall actually voted for Ms. Pelosi as speaker but said he had not wanted her for the job and would not vote for her again.

As the midterm campaign barrels through its final weeks, more Democrats — many but not all in conservative districts in the South — are backing away from Ms. Pelosi and declaring their independence.

15.  a new beginning
How about this as a starting point or something pointing towards a starting point?
Have an idea. I believe that the only way for the Democrats to effectively move to the left and away from corporate domination is to have the progressive/liberal movement unites under one banner (fat chance, but maybe) and act as a left leaning tea party within the ranks of the Democratic Party. The idea is that the left will establish within the Dems a definable segment, not a wing, that will compete within the party in Dem primaries. No more trying to establish new parties and electing another Bush.
This will put the fear of God in the hearts and pocketbooks of incumbents. This left segment would also compete, again within the party for contributions. Contributions, not to the Dems directly, but to the left segment. This left segment would present itself as an entity acting free and clear of the Democratic power structure, corporate interests, no lobbyists allowed, and, hopefully siphon off individual contributions such as went to Obama in 08.
The trick would be to have a goodly number of left leaning organizations unite under one simple straightforward agenda. An agenda with health care, basic environmental concerns, union organization/worker's rights, etc. but foregoing including all points of all progressive organization's aspirations. A new streamlined agenda that will appeal to the left center and independents is what is initially required. Other issues, proposals, actions can come later. First, you have to win.
This is the first time I have put these thoughts to paper. I know that this is not a new proposal except that I have not seen a real proposal to unite the progressives to the extent that they offer primary challenges to incumbent Dem members. Think Blue Dog Democrats with brains.
Such challenges will cause howls of anguish within the party( many in the party feed off the present situation, giving out favors through incumbents for some sort of compensation, etc.).
You get the idea. Since we, I, whatever, would be starting with the smallest of bases, contact would be made with progressive web sites setting forth the outlines and hoping to generate some sort of further activity.
Of course, this is the longest of long shots and, while hope springs eternal. There is little to hope for but I am so distraught with the present situation that I feel that I must make some effort, no matter remote the chance of even the smallest of successes. To begin, is to begin, is to begin something, that somewhere will perhaps help.
Since I was eleven years old I have been promoting liberal causes. The Democratic Party as presently constituted is at least a delusion and, at worst, a fraud. It is incapable of action and, looking at the last election cycle, managing elections. What have they done regarding mortgage fraud, bank fraud, Wall Street's and the financial sector's activities?.
I truly feel that the things that I hoped and dreamed for this country are slowly being dismantled and that the conservative movement of the '20s is rising from the ashes. Once again the barbarians rise and I fear that they are now inside the gate. Also, I always did admire Don Quixote.

2. A co worker of mine mentioned the other day that he can't stand Pelosi.
I'm not sure what that is about but he thinks when she talks there is nothing behind that brain. I don't get that at all. But he is a strong independent (can't stand either party) so at least he is not a repub.

12. We MUST demand Better
For far too long we as voters have simply accepted the status
quo with regard to our candidates. Essentially, we have
voted with great ignorance. One snapshot of this is the
continued corruption here is Detroit. The Democrats tell the
voters what they want to hear and simply use that rhetoric as
a stepping stool to the office where they simply kick back,
relax and focus on how to rape the voters and taxpayers. This
is a scar against the Democratic party that is deep and
lasting.

This must stop and it takes the voters to crawl out of their
box of ignorance and contempt for the right; and educate
themselves about what needs to be fixed in this great country
of ours and question the leadership when they do not perform.
Stop voting based on past hatred and STOP MAKING EXCUSES! the
past has no meaning; it is gone. Lets look forward with true
hope, intelligence and prosperity that is the foundation of
our country and our party. Peace.
PEACE, LOVE, JOY

3. LOL
a few posts against democrats in a row there. A post about President Obama approval, a post about Pelosi, a post about tea party having some power, reversing the Yamato post I made.

Seen that pattern before.

Doesn't change anything, it is funny though.

Here is the thing, if you take a post and try to reverse it, you are working in speech not power.

I am not worried, although I find the trends of posting a common 'tell' on this posting location.

Such things don't bother me.

Side note, I am still due beer and travel money, and many experiences. :)

4. Maybe the people in San Franscisco think the same thing about
South. Which group is correct. Instead of being adult and recognizing
each section of the country has a little different culture and
we should appreciate cultural differences Conservatives have
to be devisive. Tell me what is the difference between a
Republican bashing Pelosi and a member of our own party????
IMO, a whole lot of difference. These members are dissing
our party. If I were in their district, I would think what
kind of Democrat are you??? Or is really going for the Republican
vote????

had Mike McIntyre saying virtually the same thing....and that he definitely would NOT support Pelosi as speaker again.

6. Democrats aren't gonna like that and republicans wouldn't vote
for them any way. Look at how Al Gore distanced himself from President Clinton, when if he had campaigned along side him, he might have gotten more votes and Bush wouldn't have been able - with the help of the republican activists in the Supreme Court stolen the 2000 election.

8. Your wording gave me an idea . . .
. . . why don't we get some good left-wing film-maker and make a commercial urging Republicans not to vote in this year's election.

7. A party which does not define itself WILL be defined by others...
This is the problem with the Democratic Party: It has for so long run away from the pejorative labels assigned its issues by the GOP, that it has a difficult time defining what it is and thereby fighting back; i.e., you have to have something to fight FOR.

9. Great Americans are Always Attacked
History will remember Pelosi as a solid leader with brains and ability.

History will recall John Boehner as an odd orange man whose overall presentation suggests that he was kicked out of a bar at 3am.

13. Nancy Pelosi
all she should have done was chastised Weiner and not shouted
out for his resignation...A number of Republicans NOW serving
in congress have committed ACTUAL crimes...and they are still
there..Democrats are really weakining themselves now over time
by ALWAYS giving up their beliefs to the noise of the
Republicans. All the Dem's need to grow some!! Thats why
Weiner, known as a big mouth on progressive subjects was so
effective..many of the dems just cow tow to the
Republicans...im so tired of this........
