Very good comic. And depressing.

1. Reading it as it's collected in TPB
and I agree with you. Great concept. Looking forward to reading the companion series, Incorruptable.

2. Finally got around to this. Picking my way through a friends'sTPB copy
My only complaint is a minor one--the individual issues seem unusually brief, even a monthly comics go, so if I'd been reading it in "real time" I think that I would have grown frustrated with the brief installments.

Regardless, it's a really cool story told quite well. And I have to admit that there's a certain gallows satisfaction in seeing an "ultimate power" superhero go on a psychotic rampage.

3. Of course, Warren Ellis is sort of upping the ante with Supergod
which explores what would likely happen if world powers developed superbeings, who then quickly decide they aren't taking orders. It ends up quite badly for the planet.

4. I'm sorry to say that it's been stumbling lately IMO
The last few issues have really dragged with very little forward motion. By making the aliens seem just like humans in funny masks, they've stripped away a lot of the power and impact of the earlier issues. In fact, the aliens have turned into the least interesting aspect of the overall story, but the past several installments have devoted a huge chunk of storytelling-space to them.

Starting to stagnate, I fear...
