Comic Book Day Recap: July 28

This week, I had just two items: the new Usagi Yojimbo TPB and issue 2 of the two-part Abe Sapien book, The Abyssal Plain.

The Usagi book, Return of the Black Soul, focuses on the demon Jei, offering up an origin story and follows Usagi, Gen, Stray Dog and monk Sanshobo as they come together to track down Inazuma. Excellent story as always.

The Abe Sapien story finishes a nice little stand-alone tale of this member of the BPRD, who was called upon to recover a mysterious artifact from a sunken Soviet sub. Interestingly, the story hints again at the Soviet version of the BPRD, apparently still run by Varvara!
