http://www.examiner.com/comic-books-in-philadelphia/dc-comics-shuttering-wildstorm-division-1"Tuesday evening DC Entertainment Co-publishers Dan Didio and Jim Lee announced in a joint statement the disbandment of both DC Comics Wildstorm publishing and ‘Zuda’ web comic divisions. The shuttering of these two imprint labels comes as part of a company-wide restructuring of DC Comics label by parent company Warner Brothers Entertainment to better strengthen the DC Comics brand. "
I think it would be hard to argue the impact that Wildstorm had on the modern comics scene. Warren Ellis' The Authority single-handedly changed superhero team comics. And they gave Alan Moore his own imprint in America's Best Comics.
It does seem like Wildstorm has been floundering a bit lately. The Authority stopped being fun a while back, and giving up the Boys? What kind of move is that?
I do look forward to a relaunch of The Authority, though. Not sure if it would work in the DCU, but maybe as a Vertigo title...
