House of M -talk about a shake up!

I won't post specific spoilers, but that's a pretty major move for Marvel, and I think a pretty smart one.

198 mutants left? Major characters no longer mutants?

2. ok, if people don't have the issue already, then SPOILER ALERT

The "real" Marvel universe comes back in - the characters who were aware in the reality created by Scarlet Witch that the reality was false retain the memories of that time, while everyone else is unaware anything happened. The last thing Scarlet Witch said before the world returned to the "real" continuity is "No more mutants."

She was serious. Apparently apart from the mutants protected by Emma Frost in the SW-created reality (and obviously a few others to be revealed), all mutants on the planet have lost their powers.

This includes, so far:

Iceman
most of the students at Xaviers
Magneto!!!
and quite possibly, Xavier too.

Mutants with powers includes:
Emma Frost
Cyclops
Wolverine (who states that he remembers his ENTIRE LIFE)
Nightcrawler
(there's more, that's just off the top of my head while at work)

A scan by cerebro reveals that there are only 198 people with mutant powers left on the planet.

Furthermore, the avengers go back to the shell of the mansion and find hawkeye's uniform pinned to the wall with his arrows, along with a newspaper clipping reporting his death.

I'm really interested to see who's left with their powers...
