Who would you cast for as-yet-unmade superhero movies?
Some picks of mine:

The Flash: Guy Pearce
Iron Man: Gabriel Byrne
Green Lantern: Billy Zane (Jordan), Jake Busey (Gardner), Jamie Foxx (Stewart)
Wonder Woman: Carrie-Anne Moss
Dr. Strange: Viggo Mortensen
Captain Atom: Jon Stewart

Corresponding villains:

Mirror Master: Sean Bean
Mandarin: Timothy Dalton
Sinestro: John Malkovich
Vandal Savage: Ron Livingston
Dormammu: Gary Cole
General Eiling: James Woods; Major Force: The Rock

Yours? Especially for others I didn't cast? Who'd be good to play Captain America? Red Skull? Thor? Loki?

1. Those are some good choices!...:)
hmmm....I do like your choices, especially the Lantern's/Wonderwoman, in truth they are all great choices...:)

With Captain America, you need someone blue eyed, and blonde, and with a fram on him...so, what blonde/blue eyed actors are out there? There's brad pitt, but i dont' see him as Captain America, i see Pitt more as a Remy Lebaeu type character, but Pitt is my impulse choice.

As Thor, Triple H, or someone like him, he has the staure, he can definately do some showmanship with his experience the the WWF, and what not, he was my first impulsive choice...My second choice, I cannot remember his name, but he played Wulfgar on the 13th Warrior with Antonio Banderas, the tall blonde viking, he has the stature, but Triple H has the stature and the big time BEEF to go along with the role.

Red Skull, hands down Ed Norton....I don't know why, but I know he can do it, and I can see him doing it!...:)

Silver Surfer-Cuba Gooding JR., I can see him doing the role, all shaved, and crusing the cosmos!...

for others, all ready chosen...

For superman, I dont' agree with the choice of Brandon R, i would have went with Tom Welling from the Smallville shows...

Batman, Christian Bale aka Patrick Bateman, did a great, batman, IMO...

I think the choices of the Xmen characters have all been great, for xmen and X2, I am not so sure about X3 but I believe the movie will be fantastic!...

Fantastic Four, I liked the choices of all the hero's/villians. Michael Chilkis as the thing, great choice! very good...

Spiderman I and II, and III, i agree with all the casting of the spiderman movies, very well done...

2. Brad Pitt as Gambit! Perfect!
X-Men characters that did not yet appear... hmmm...

Blob: John Goodman
Juggernaut: Steven Seagal
Emma Frost: Cate Blanchett
Bishop: Samuel L. Jackson
Cable: Russell Crowe
Arcade: Joaquin Phoenix

5. hmm...I got some differences here...
Blob is a good choice...and according to my research on Xmen III, Juggernaut is going to be in it, the guy who played Bullet Tooth Tony on Snatch is playing the Juggernaut, i believe his name is Vinnie Jones, but i'm not a hunderd percent certain on that. I also disagree of your choice of the Juggernaut, eww...Steven Seagal as Juggernaut? Juggernaut isn't a grease ball...:)

I think Carl Weathers, if he is still alive, would do a great Bishop, I dont' think Sam Jackson has the build for it, or even Wesley Snipes as bishop, but I think Bishop as an older buff black dude, rough around the edges and what not, and Carl Weathers fits that....

Russell Crowe as Cable...hmmm, its a decent choice and my mind is mush trying to think of someone else who would do a better job, so for now, i am going with Russel Crowe as well....

To be honest, I don't know who Emma Frost is, or Arcade, sorry i have been away from comics for a while, especially marvel, so I have no opinion on that one...

When I first saw brad pitt in Interview with a Vampire, i knew he would/could do a great Remy Lebeau, and I have been saying that for over 10 yrs now, and I always stood by it, through ridicule and agreement....I know he could probably do Captain America, but right now, i'm still stumped as whom to play Capt. America.

is the viking you mention, according to IMDb. By the way, is The 13th Warrior any good? Should I rent it?

Edit: Banderas plays an Arab. Muslim Arabs of that time usually didn't shave... right?

4. hmmm....
13th Warrior, in my mind, is a great movie, i bought it before i even watched it, and I was delighted with the movie. There could have been more action and what not, but what they did throughout the movie was great, it was like a Dungeons and Dragons movie with a horde of bad ass vikings...it's a definite rent for sure...:) I'm not sure about the guys name, i need to look it up, but i'm sure you are right about his name...the same guy was also in Firestorm with Howie Long....but anyways...:)

6. I'm sure you mentioned a movie named "Firestorm" just to pull my leg
didn't you?

Firestorm: Elijah Wood (Ronnie Raymond), Richard Attenborough (Prof. Stein), Brendan Fraser (Firestorm)
Killer Frost: Christina Ricci

18. Okay, new thoughts...
I just saw Blade Trinity, and Triple H was in the movie, and he didn't do such a great job in that, as a vamp body guard, so i'm wiping him off the list of potential Thor canidates...I still go with that Beowulf, Victor dude off 13th Warrior as my number one choice, but as in all things....a unknown is probably required for Thor.

19. I'd say Ralf Moeller for Thor... He's the natural choice...
my second choice would be Andrew Bryniarski

21. Captain America would be a hard one to cast...
the only two that I can think of that might be able to pull is Paul Walker or Matthew McConaughey.

22. I just got done watching.
Reign of Fire, and Matt Mc. does have the damn build to pull it off, and the more I think about it, the more inclined i am to believe he would be a fantastic Captain America. He has the build, the acting capability, and the look. He is blonde, and blue eyed, he can do it...:)

10. here's some
not a superhero movie, but I think he could pull it off: Johnny Depp as Spider Jerusalem (not the DUer Spider Jerusalem).

Besides the Thing, Chiklis would do a great Strong Guy.

I'm thinking Brad Pitt could do Thor easy - he was just about there in Troy.

John-Rhys Davies for Puck - have to do the LOTR stature correction again, though. He would have been my choice for Beast as well.

Colin Farrell with blonde hair and blue contacts could do Captain America

11. hmm....
I don't know who Strong Guy is, but I try to avoid using actors whom all ready were in another superhero/villian role, albeit i did recommend Wesley Pipes for Bishop....I can't see Colin Farrell as Captain America....it has to be someone with the same body as Christan Bale, maybe Matthew McConeheuy..(however you spell it, i'm sure someone will correct me)...as a matter of fact, i think Matt would do a great job as Capt america...:)

no way as Pitt as Thor man...someone nordic, and viking....pitt doesn't equal=nordic/viking/intimidating at all...i think that Triple H would do a great job, but hey, you probably all ready read my thoughts on it...:) But i'm sure Bradd could do it, i just don't see him as it...

12. In case of spelling doubts, Google and IMDb are your friends.
It's Matthew McConaughey, and yeah, I can't spell his name for shit, and yeah, he'd be great as Cap!

13. I dunno...I think Gary Oldman would probably be better as Spider Jerusalem
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 08:34 AM by Spider Jerusalem
Or maybe Tim Roth. Depp's too much of an obvious choice, since he already played Hunter S Thompson (sort of) in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The rest of my cast choices for a Transmetropolitan movie:

The Smiler: Willem Dafoe
Channon: Heather Graham
Yelena: Fairuza Balk
Mitchell Royce: Robin Williams

And...while we're talking Warren Ellis comics...how about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as Apollo and the Midnighter in an Authority movie? With Ziyi Zhang as Swift, Kate Beckinsale as Jenny Sparks (blonde, I think she could pull it off), Val Kilmer as Jack Hawksmoor, nd maybe Halle Berry as the Engineer? (Can't think of who I'd cast as the Doctor right now...)

14. ah, yes, Oldman would be good
Not sure about Graham for Channon - I'm thinking someone taller - perhaps Maggie Grace?

Matt Damon as the Midnighter I can see. Ben Affleck - now there would be a challenge physically. I would go for the big head viking guy from 13th Warrior, mentioned up thread. For the Doctor, Gary Oldman would also be a good choice. Joseph Fiennes would be good too.

I have no idea what heroes/villians you are talking about...what comic are they from, and give me the gist of them, I might spend some of my hard earned cash and check them out...:)Like i said, i must be an idiot, to not know these characters, either that, or i'm just old...:)

16. Okay...
Spider Jerusalem (guy in the picture in my sigline) is the hero (or antihero) of Transmetropolitan (written by Warren Ellis, art by Darick Robertson). He's a sort of futuristic Hunter S Thompson; he's a hard-drinking, drug-abusing 'outlaw journalist' who's on a mission to take down an evil, corrupt president. The book is set in some indeterminate point in the future, probably about the 23rd century or so, to judge by the technology (cloning, nanotech, etc). It's a very good mix of dystopian sci-fi and politics.

The Authority are a sort of anti-JLA; they're a team from the Wildstorm universe that consists (at first) of Jenny Sparks, 'The Spirit of the Twentieth Century', who is a sort of energy being, having command of electricity (the 20th century being the Age of Electricity); Apollo and the Midnighter, who are obviously inspired by, respectively, Superman and Batman (with the added twist that they're a gay couple); the Engineer, a mechanical-science genius whose blood consists mostly of intelligent nanomachines that she has total mental control of; Jack Hawksmoor, 'The King of Cities', who is a sort of earth elemental, and can talk to cities and make them do his bidding, and the Doctor, who is 'Earth's shaman' and can warp reality to his will in some rather interesting ways. (If you do check out the Authority, I'd recommend only getting the ones written by Warren Ellis - 1st 2 TPBs - and Mark Millar - the 3rd and 4th, I think. The series kind of went downhill after that.)
