The Externals
By Gaiman and Romita, Jr.

Tell me I'm not the only one reading this!

The Externals are not a group I am familiar with, but after reading the article on the series in CSN, and on the strong recommendation of my FLCBS (Friendly Local Comic Book Store - are you supporting yours?), I picked up the first issue, and wow! what a great story! One of the best first issues of a series I've ever read. Hooked me immediately. If you haven't picked this up yet, shame on you!

1. Not a big fan of Romita Jr's art, I'm afraid
I think my first exposure to his work was in the early 80's, on the X-Men, and I just can't get past it.

How does it mesh with Gaiman's writing?

3. It works very well. It is drawn in tribute to John Byrne
and incorporates much of his style. I think Romita was a student of Byrne's so that helps. Go check it out - read the first issue and see what you think.

2. Is this the Eternals?
I've got that on my pull list but I haven't picked it up yet.

Probably Sunday.

4. It's very good.
Gaiman really gets what Kirby was going for with this book. And it meshes really well with current Marvel continuity with the references to the registration act. I can't wait to see how they handle why no one remembers the Eternals.

Good stuff.
