2. Not bad....:)
I still can't see Robert Downey JR. as T. Stark, but I hope he pulls it off....

5. I think RDJ is an awesome choice
For one thing, he's a terrific actor. And like Stark, he's battled substance abuse problems of his own.

6. Yeah, I'd agree. It's an inspired casting choice.
I'm not expecting Iron Man to be much better than Fantastic Four was though.

8. I'm afraid the whole "comic movie" genre has shot its wad
I'm afraid that one more movie of the likes of Elektra, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, or Fantastic Four will kill it entirely.

I have high hopes for the next Batman movie since it appears Christopher Nolan is sticking to the same formula as Batman Begins. I'm also hoping for the best with this Iron Man movie, too. At least it has a great cast and an interesting director, Jon (Elf, Zathura) Favreau.

12. If the genre can survive Tim Burton, it can survive anything
Burton's Batman and Batman Returns are so utterly foul that it's a miracle that the entire comic book industry wasn't shut down in response to these dreadful, dreadful films. And the amazing thing is that they were, for some reason, praised upon release for being bold and visionary, when in fact they were palably awful even at the time.

There's been no shortage of genre-slaying badness over the years; in fact, until recently the bad has vastly outweighed the good. If anything, I'd suggest that the batting average is improving lately...

13. I'm with you. I HATED Burton's Batman.
And was quite frustrated at the praise they received at the time.

"Oh, Michael Keaton was just sooo great as Batman!"

Are you effing kidding me?

4. And Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark

I don't want to get my hopes up, but this movie could totally kick some ass.
