Salon's 'Colbert Report' Review
http://www.salon.com/ent/tv/review/2005/10/18/colbert_report/index.html

In a nice play on O'Reilly's "No-Spin Zone" foolishness, Colbert wants us to know that even though his name is all over the place, the show isn't all about him. "No, this program is dedicated to you, the heroes!" he bellows. "And who are the heroes? The people who watch this show -- average, hardworking Americans. You're not the elites, you're not the country club crowd. I know for a fact that my country club would never let you in. But you get it! And you come from a long line of it-getters!"

Immediately, Colbert has his finger on the throbbing pulse of right-wing punditry, the dexterity with which they pander to the working class without getting any mud on their Italian wing-tip loafers. "On this show, your voice will be heard," Colbert reassures us, "in the form of my voice."

Rerunning NOW on Comedy Central.

1. Colbert's the best but his show got two lukewarm votes at our house
I think he is going to need something more than the joke of the parody of RW-er Bill O'Reilly if he wants to keep his half hour show going. Maybe they could put in more commercials. The Stone Phillips interview was rather a waste, but I loved Leslie Stahl on the second episode recounting the story of Watergate. She's one sharp cookie!

2. I enjoyed the parts of his show I could stay awake for.
No reflection on him--it's just on too late.

3. I do like the way he announces his interview guest then runs to
the interview area sucking up all "their" applause.

People who don't watch O'Shrilly probably won't truly appreciate this show.

I'll give him time to fine tune because he's way too smart/funny to completely miss the mark.

"You, the audience, are DOING something! You're watching TV".

:D
