Voting against cloture is tantamount to telling his own caucus they don't even get to vote on the conference committee report.

In fact, reports indicate that the administration and conference leaders have gone to significant lengths to avoid making the bill stronger. Rather than discussing with me ways to strengthen the bill, for example, they chose to eliminate a levy that was to be imposed on the largest banks and hedge funds in order to obtain the vote of members who prefer a weaker bill. Nothing could be more revealing of the true position of those who are crafting this legislation. They had a choice between pursuing a weaker bill or a stronger one. Their decision is clear.

On this bill, like the others that preceded it, the biggest financial interests have won.

He won't even let it come up for a vote by members of his own caucus.

right. Forget what Wall St wants, it should be a bill that protects us not them. They put a real bill out there and they will have no problems winning in November. People are watching this and they don't like it.

these regs are an improvement over the status and may well set the stage for more if the economy stays bad. And it's a big political hammer with which to hit these crazed Republicans over the head this fall, so it's worth doing on that basis alone.

15. No, it's not a good bill. Better than nothing? Sure. But it's pretty much nothing

the white house even chose to strip giving more rights to shareholders when it comes to CEO pay, something both the house and the senate supported.

And since this isn't a very strong bill it might be better if it died as opposed to pass. That way Obama can't come out and say that this is huge reform that he won on and then forget about reform which he would do. He will have to instead go back and do it right.
