Proposed CSPAN group sharing LEGISLATIVE forum space?
A couple weeks back about 15 of us petitioned the admins to form a new group to track CSPAN Journal - see the mission statement at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=120&topic_id=30751

Yesterday, Skinner asked if instead of a new group we could piggy back on the LEGISLATIVE group.

Would one post/day interfere here? Any problem or concerns?

thanks

1. what was the logic of piggybacking on Legislative?

Legislative would seem ok for c-span 2 and 3

we want to track one program on c-span 1

wouldn't Legislative posters have to dodge around our posts? would they mind?

3. Exactly
I told Skinner I thought our CSPAN posts would clutter the forum.

Thanks for the confirmation.

2. When following a congressional process...

like the bankruptcy bill we followed this week, or the confirmation processes in January, - where there's a group of us watching c-span and commenting on the proceedings in live time - where would those posts fit in? Legislative, GD-Politics or GD?

4. CSPAN group has a different focus
Not following legislation.

Focusing on current and future guests and events. See the mission statement in the ASK THE ADMINS area (link in first post).

5. Okay, so the group is specific to Washington Journal
it's not a generic c-span group.

Thanks for your response.

Good idea - it will serve us very well to organize talking points, etc in order to counter the right's well organized call-in campaigns.

6. I see this as 90%+ focused on CSPAN Journal
...with a focus on member alerts and organizing talking points.

9% communicating other DU segments of interest to DU members.

1% feedback to CSPAN suggesting coverage of future events.

7. Can't Find the Mission Statement
But the most urgent need and Mission is a site which offers same-day or next-day transcripts from everything from Presidential News Conferences to Senate Intelligence Committees. Prepared speech texts are not what I'm talking about. I'm citing Q & A's which are far more revealing.
