William Meyers is running for the House seat in Iowa's 4th district (which means cities like Ames, Fort Dodge, and Mason City among others). William Meyers is a veteran of the Marine Corps and a native of Humboldt, Iowa. Meyers is a normal everyday guy, he has many new and progressive ideals emphasizing support for the middle class and rejection of big money and special interest. I am supporting William Meyers because this nation needs change, and while we can all make it happen in the presidential elections in November, we also need to focus on what is happening here at home, in Iowa. We need someone in Washington that will represent our interest. Not someone who will represent Washington in Iowa. Tom Latham, the Republican who holds the seat in which Meyers is running for has been criticized recently for his support of the war in Iraq. As November rolls near, many of us are looking for change in the white house, but we must also remember change here at home, because that is where it all starts and that is where we wish to see the results. The United States Congressional election is to be held November 4th 2008; this will no doubt be the biggest election of our lifetime, not only the presidential election but also the house and senate. Last election, we achieved a majority in both houses. We need to maintain and in fact widen the gap between democrats and republicans. What you may not know is that a close majority does not do anything towards getting things done, as republicans try to block popularly elected people and ideals from making change. There needs to be an overwhelming majority of good, honest, hardworking people in congress and there is no one that personifies these traits than a fighting marine like William Meyers.
