Spanish

I have a question...what in your opinion is the best way to learn spanish so I can speak it somewhat fluently. There are so many options that I just want others opinions. I live in a town that most of the jobs are bilingual which is putting me in a bad spot. I have been a stay at home mom , I am trying to go back to work but no one will hire me until I am bilingual.

Any opinions?? Thanks

1. Start with a basic community college class to get your feet wet, or and

buy the Rosetta Stone or Pimsleur or Teach Yourself sets of books and tapes and work through them. Then, if you have cable, watch Univision like crazy. If you have HBO, watch HBO Latino, which has Spanish dubbed versions of familiar movies and programs. If there are a lot of Spanish-speakers in town, there's probably a store where you could buy Spanish children's books or Spanish versions of

Television, for all its failings, is a great language learning tool, because people often act out or show pictures of what they're talking about.

2. Watch the Spanish Soaps on TV

I'm not kidding or trying to poke fun; if you are a stay at home mom, that's your best bet. The overacting acting will help you understand the intended message more easily. Listen for the intonation, which is critical to understanding irony and sarcasm in Spanish.

3. I am learning Greek using computer software. It's a great tool.

My wife learned Spanish not only by hanging out with my friends and I. But also by listening to music and watching movies.
