1. i do, wth
this is four and a half years for me. nice to meet u
it's a very rewarding profession because you're helping someone
and it's very demanding
but teaching is not about the money that's for sure
but one of the nicest perks is right now.. and for the next ten days i have off and i'm visiting my parents and cooking for them
two things i hardly have time to do when school is in session

2. I've been thinking about that myself. Especially if, Universe forbid,

I should lose my job.

I don't expect to make much money at it.

What countries would be good for that? Eastern European countries come to my mind.

3. hidy well lemme start by sayin i am no expert but i'll be glad to share my
two cents. if you are interetested in the possiblity of working as an ESL teacher abroad, you will have to research yourself to discover what options are best for u.

Questions you may want to consider:
how much money u have to put towards such a venture. How much will the school pay towards travel/ housing/ anything u want to negotiate/ pay/ etc.
How helpful is the school? get references on any school, research it.
some countries pay more than others and the exchange rate is something to consider...how much american dollars will what you're making actually turn out to be?
where can u go/ afford to? where do you want to go? what do u know of the culture/s? Are you a city mouse or a country mouse?

another thing: I got esl licensed in the state/ so i can teach in any public school in my state. which is nine months a year of american dollars and there is a continued need for esl teachers everywhere as far as i know. So, what i hope to do, optimistically, is go somewhere for my summers and adventure/teach then come back to my home/teaching job when school starts back in the fall. Now, this is just places I'm thinking I would like: China, Vietnam, Spain, (each for very different reasons!) But this is what i'm hoping works out for me. Kind of tryin' out all kinds of different places, that's just me. I don't know much about the eastern european countries. Which ones? Research the countries. Are they gonna be safe for you. Wimmin wouldn't want to teach in arab countries, for example, based on the sexism I've heard about. Go to Dave's ESL cafe and just surf around the forums. you'll be amazed what u learn about teaching, cultures, and yourself--what you want and what you don't. Some schools aren't reputable so buyer beware!

Maybe even try to find some recruitment agencies but always, always, always read all de fine print and get stuff in writing. I've never gone that route.
Some ppl show up at the doorstep of a school in timbuktu and start work. I can't do that. Don't want to take that risk with my hard earned and hard to come by dollar.

well, i've blathered on again. Hope i helped. Good luck.
